Treat or Treat! Halloween Basket is available as a free download, although if you would like to make a donation, you can name your own price here. Any proceeds will be donated to support mental health charities.

Halloween is nearly upon us, so of course we all need a spooky basket to collect our trick or treat sweets in. This trick or treat basket is knit in the round from the bottom up, in almost one piece. A variety of cables and textures result in it being a satisfying and interesting project, ready for Halloween trick or treating. The seed stitch handle is the only thing that is knitted separately (flat) and attached at the end. The finished basket has a diameter of 14 cm (5.5 inch), equivalent to a circumference of 44 cm (17.3 inch), and a it measures 12cm (4.7 inch) from bottom to brim, so there’s plenty of room for your Halloween haul.

The pattern includes both written and chart instructions for the side panels of the basket, and I’ve also included optional alphabet letter charts, just in case you want to personalise it and add a letter to one of the sides. To make the basket, you’ll need about 40g of DK yarn, 4 mm double-pointed needles, a tapestry needle for weaving in the ends, and unless you are one of those magic people who can just rearrange stitches on needles like sorcery, a cable needle is very handy. Skills required:
casting on and joining in the round,
knitting,
purling
kfb,
cabling.
