Trig Hat
The Trig Hat is designed to be a quick and satisfying knit that looks more complex than it truly is. It features bold, chunky ‘ball’ and ‘wheat’ cables, which neatly decrease into the crown.
It is worked from the bottom up, in the round. Instructions are provided for working either with or without a fold over. It is made with bulky yarn but can also be worked in DK yarn held double.
The instructions are for a medium size female head.It is designed to accommodate a range of gauges. A tighter gauge (14 sts and 19 rows per 10 cm / 4”) will create a smaller hat with a neater, closer fit. A looser gauge (13 sts and 16 rows per 10 cm / 4”) will create a larger hat with a more relaxed fit and additional slouch at the crown. For the fold over option, this can be adjusted somewhat by
where the band is folded.
It is named after a morning walk with my family to a nearby trig station in the drizzle.
GAUGE
13-14 stitches and 16-19 rows per 10 cm (4
inches) in stockinette.
