Stranded colourwork hat in a modern geometric design.

Finished measurements:
Circumference = 53 cm / 21”.
Length from crown to lower edge = 22 cm / 8 ½”.


Suggested yarn:
Holst Garn Supersoft 100% uld (approx 575 m / 629 yd per 100g / 3.5 oz)

  • 1 x 25g ball each in Allium (CC1), Calypso (CC2) and Aquamarine (CC3)

  • 1 x 50g ball in Lather (MC)

NB: If you intend to make the matching mittens (Trigonal Mittens) you will have enough yarn remaining (after completing the hat) from the 25g balls of the contrast colours and from the 50g ball of the main colour to complete the mittens.
 
OR

  • Approx 12 m / 13 yd of each contrast colour in a fingering weight yarn of your choice

  • Approx 185 m / 202 yd of main colour in a fingering weight yarn of your choice


Needles:
Size 2.5 mm (US 1.5):

  • set of 5 double pointed needles

  • circular needle, 40 cm / 16” long

OR

  • long length circular needle for Magic Loop method if preferred

Size 3.0 mm / (approx US 2.5):

  • set of 5 double pointed needles

  • circular needle, 40 cm / 16” long

OR

  • long length circular needle for Magic Loop method if preferred

Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

 

Gauge:
36 sts and 44 rows = 10 cm / 4” in stockinette stitch worked in the round (knit every row) using size 3.0 mm / US 2.5 needles. Gauge swatch was washed, blocked and dried before measuring.

38 sts and 40 rows = 10 cm / 4” in stranded colourwork in chart pattern, worked in the round (knit every row), using size 3.0 mm / US 2.5 needles. Gauge swatch was washed, blocked and dried before measuring.
