Trikona Cowl
Slip stitch cowl with Bandini dots and two-color gradient fade
This design came about from the shaped wall carvings seen in Hindu temples and Stepwells. There I saw a less common shape that resembled almost a bunting or row of pennant flags. I adapted those into the Trikona Cowl (triangle in Hindi) which consists of interlocking triangles with an inner “cutout” triangle showing off the contrast gradient. One half is worked in purl, the other in knit and all of the surface is covered in Bandini dots. This cowl is worked using one color at a time per row, with slip stitches creating the pattern - it’s really fun to make!!
Calling for just one divided ball of our Superwash Shaniko Worsted, the colors of the slow gradient play against each other and highlight the design. If you’ve never tried Mosaic knitting this is a fun one to start with and if you have done it before you’ll find it a breeze. The hardest part of this design is stopping at just one, or perhaps picking out the color you with which you want to make the next one!
