How This Hooded Scarf Is Made
This seamless hooded scarf is worked vertically in rows, beginning at the center back of the hood. The hood is formed by working into both sides of a foundation chain, then shaped gradually to create the crown. Once the hood is complete, the scarf and hood front are worked together in long rows before finishing with a simple knit-look edging that beautifully frames the entire piece.

The sample shown here was made with an I/9/5.5mm crochet hook and Lion Brand Wool Ease medium (worsted) weight wool/acrylic yarn (197 yds/180 m; 3 oz/85 g per skein) in the color #620-096A Linen. The project required 4 skeins of this yarn.

Suggested Yarn Substitutes
Sample was made with medium-weight wool, but feel free to substitute the medium-weight yarn of your choice. Smooth, moderately spun acrylic, wool, or wool-blend yarns are recommended for this design, as they help the trinity stitch stand out and are less prone to splitting. Other fiber types can absolutely be used, but it is suggested to avoid very slick, fuzzy, or loosely spun yarns, as they may make the stitch definition less distinct and be more difficult to work with.

Lighter or heavier weight yarns may also be used. A different weight yarn may require a different size hook, as well as more or less yarn than noted. Working with a thinner or thicker yarn may result in different gauge measurements, which will affect the Finished Measurements. Working a gauge swatch is recommended (instructions provided in pattern).
