Yarn: C; afghan worsted; 1 lb.; as photographed, in 4 shades of green.

Needles: 11

Gauge: 3 stitches to one inch

Chart: one box = 4 stitches and 4 ridges.

To knit: Three double wing units move upward diagonally toward a final divided square. Each of these units and colors is PKed and knitted from the previous unit. The six triangles-three left triangles and three right-are the six units numbered 4, 7, 10 and 3, 6, 9. They are cast on and joined (PK or JP) to units 1, 2 and 5. Each triangle is the same color as the wing unit from which it is PKed except the triangles joining unit 1, which match unit 5.

The border may be any width desired. It is knitted as a straight rectangle along each straight edge of the completed afghan. It is cast off on the right side of the work. The edges of the rectangles are PKed as cast-on rows for divided squares, one in each corner
