PATTERN STORY
I wanted a simple 1x1 ribbed beanie in a DK weight yarn, but could not find one I liked, so I made the Troy Boy Beanie. It is a continuation of my Troy Boy pattern series because it is a very basic knit, much like the basic ‘Troy Boy’.
SKILLS NEEDED
This is an advanced beginner pattern.
Cast on, knit, purl, decreasing in pattern.
YARN
West Wool Tandem 100g , 233m / 254 yds
Sample uses Norway for the long version and Dijon for the short
GAUGE & NEEDLES
31 sts x 35 rows over 10cm / 4in in 1x1 rib
The recommended needles are 3mm / US 2.5 with a 40cm / 16in circular cable or DPN’s.
RECOMMENDED NOTIONS
One removable stitch marker
Tapestry needle
Double pointed needles or a longer cord for magic loop
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Both versions have a circumference of 47cm / 18.5in
Long total height 26cm / 10.25in
Short total height 21cm / 8.25in
Fits head circumference of 51-59 cm / 20-23 in
PATTERN NOTES
This is knitted in one piece in the round from brim to top.
