Truly Textural Cowl : A cozy, neck warmer-style cowl with a checkerboard texture, alternating between Two-Color Brioche and Two-Color Pearl Brioche, with a scalloped border.

If you are already signed up for the online course, do not buy this!! This pattern and the Truly Textural Shawl are both part of the course materials!

I have created this cowl pattern as a great way to learn brioche increases, as well as broaden your horizons with a bit of brioche texture. If you would like a more enhanced version of the pattern, as well as videos teaching you the techniques found in this pattern, please sign up for my online course, Mastering Brioche with Knit Graffiti! You can sign up for the entire course, which consists of 4 Parts, or sign up for Part Two by itself. If you are already signed up for the online course, this pattern is part of the course materials for Part Two!

Skill level: Beginner to Intermediate. Learning new techniques in brioche knitting in the round is fantastic!! Techniques used: knit, purl, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), brioche increases, Two-Color Pearl Brioche texture, knitting in the round, two-color icord cast on and bind off.

Construction Notes: This neck warmer cowl is knit in the round, beginning at the top and working down towards the bottom. Just like any brioche pattern, working it in the round is a simple way to learn. I have written this pattern as a great way to introduce yourself to brioche increases, as well as a bit of brioche texture. You will begin with a Two-Color i-Cord cast on, which will look striped! Then you will immediately begin setting up to work the checkerboard look, alternating between Two-Color Brioche and Two-Color Pearl Brioche. After working one block, you will move on to another block, while switching stitch patterns! So where you previously were working Two-Color Brioche, you will switch to Two-Color Pearl Brioche, and vice versa.

One Adult size: 26” / 66 cm circumference at top of cowl, widening to 36” / 91.5 cm at bottom, and 12” / 30.5 cm height (taken after blocking). Schematic included with pattern.
