From (a modern translation of) the epic poem,
Tam o’ Shanter by Robert Burns:
“This truth finds honest Tam o’ Shanter,
As he from Ayr one night did canter;
Old Ayr, which never a town surpasses,
For honest men and bonny lasses.”
