This beanie is knitted in the round, at first, with size 5 16-inch circular needles, and has a cabled brim. The rest of the hat is knitted on size 6 16-inch circular needles, and has a graph for the lettering. There are two different styles: fitted and slouchy. This hat fits a teen/adult. The gauge for the main body of the hat is 5 stitches per inch. The yarn used in the hat, photographed, is Fancy Image Yarn, in DK weight. Malabrigo and Madelinetosh work great, as well, in DK weight. One skein, of any of these 3 yarns is plenty, and you could even knit two hats in contrasting colors. You will use up to 150 yards, plus a small amount of accent yarn, for the lettering/fair isle. This is a quick and fun knit, with an awesome saying on it.
