The pattern does not specify, but is written for 16” circular needles or double pointed needles. Switch to dpns as the crown decreases make the circumference too small.

This is a straightforward toque pattern designed to knit up in a jiffy. On the west coast, it’s always nice to have an extra toque on hand to throw on for a brisk beach walk or to warm up quickly after a surf.
One skein of chunky weight yarn should be just about right for an adult-sized toque, but if you like a loose or slouchy fit I’d have some extra on hand. I tend to knit at a loose gauge so the needles I choose are usually different from what’s written in a pattern - pay attention to your gauge and use the appropriate needle for your style.
I like to use poms that have an elastic loop so that they’re easy to detach in case I need to go pomless - when it’s rainy I like my rain hood over my toque!
Happy knitting!
