Tuisku balaclava is knitted with double and / or triple yarn starting at the opening of the face, after which it is progressed in short rows over the head to the neck, and finally the work is combined on the shoulders. Use two fingering weight merino strands together OR one DK weight strand. Both versions held together with mohair yarn.

Gauge: 20 sts x 26 rounds (10x10 cm)

Sizes (head circumference):

34-40 (40-48) 48-54 cm / Age approx. 4-12 months (1-3 yrs) 4-8 yrs

Tip! Age is for reference only. Head circumference can vary a lot with children on a same age. Measure the head first so you know what size to choose.

Supplies and materials

• 40 cm / 3,5 and 4 mm circular needles. 
Double pointed needles are perhaps better for knitting the smallest size. With the largest size, you may have to use a 60 cm / 4 mm circular needle when raglan increases start.
• Soft silk mohair from Knitting for Olive = 25g
• Merino from Knitting for Olive 100g (two balls), 250 m/50 g
• Rubber/silicone thread to tighten the face opening (only if you want it to be tight, it looks nice also without it)
• Cable needle

Kypärämyssy neulotaan kaksin- ja/tai kolminkertaisella langalla kasvojen aukosta alkaen, jonka jälkeen edetään lyhennetyillä kerroksilla päälaen yli niskaan, ja lopuksi työ yhdistyy kaulaan ja harteille. Työssä käytetään kahta ohuempaa merinolankaa yhdessä TAI yhtä paksumpaa. Molemmat versiot mohairlangan kanssa.
