Tunisian Mesh Dishcloth or Washcloth by Amy Solovay

Tunisian Mesh Dishcloth or Washcloth

Discontinued. This digital pattern is no longer available online.

You can use this functional project as either a dishcloth or washcloth; it will serve either purpose beautifully.

This project is a hybrid between Tunisian crochet and traditional crochet. You crochet the body of the dishcloth in Tunisian crochet mesh stitch, which is an ultra-easy variation of afghan stitch. Then you add a simple traditional crochet edging in single crochet stitch around the piece to finish it.

I’ve included instructions for working dishcloths / washcloths in two different yarn weights -- worsted weight and sport weight. Take your pick. The worsted weight works up much faster; but both are reasonably quick, easy projects overall.

This stitch pattern is my new favorite -- because it is FAST, easy to do, and really beautiful.

I’ve designed a whole bunch of other projects using the Tunisian crochet mesh stitch -- and this dishcloth is meant to be an easy introduction to the stitch. Once you’ve worked through this pattern, the other, more complex designs will hopefully be much more intuitive for you. I hope you’ll enjoy working the pattern and learning this stitch.
