This is the second pattern in my warm hats for cold climates series, inspired by Canadian geographic regions. The Tunniit beanie was inspired by Inuit tattoos, called Tunniit, a practice that was almost completely destroyed by the cultural genocide that took place, and continues to take place all over Canada. Tunniit are increasing in popularity in a movement to reclaim cultural traditions and heal from colonization.

This hat is dedicated to the strongest, proudest, bravest woman I know. I am constantly humbled by your willingness to include me in your life, and call me friend.

If you live in Canada and identify as First Nations, Inuk, or Métis, please message me for a free copy of this pattern.
