Turkosen (Turquoise)
Turkosen (or Turquoise in English) is a charted design element which can be used in conjuction with pattern instructions from Bohus Stickning på nytt The Revival. Charts have been published for both two different top down yoked sweaters although these charts may be adapted for other garments. It was designed by Kerstin Olsson for Bohus Stickning some time in 1967. A photo of one original pattern card (on a dark background) was published by the Bohuslan Museum in their digital collection in late 2024. A second card (on a light background) together with a swatch was published in the digital collection of the Gothenburg Museum before 2026.
The Turkosen design is referenced in Bohus Stickning på nytt The Revival on p. 147 as design 1325 from 1967. The pattern reference in the book and on the pattern card describe the pattern as being made from the Bohus Stickning angora merino yarn. A photo of an original pattern card is shown here. Please note that the terms of the Bohuslan Museum’s licence applies to the use of its images and READ that licence before using their intellectual products.
9 shades of blue and blue green are used in the design. One pair of colours are held double to make a 10th shade variation. The majority (although not all) of these colours have been replicated by AngoraGarnet and may be available to purchase from them. Other pattern cards or test samples may be available to view on the Bohus Stickning section of the DigitaltMuseum.
Links to the Bohuslan Museum’s collection for the design are included in this page. Please be mindful of the terms of the Museum’s licence and be considerate when using items from their collection.
