Turning Tide
“Turning Tide”
A design full of the love for the sea, but also the love of how quickly life circumstances can change, just like the sea always moving, with energy taken from around us a new situation can be reached and bought to land, as waves crash and unfold on the shore.
I began this shawl with purely the sea in mind but as the stitches layered upon each other, it became so much more.
I’m therefore releasing it alongside the Outlander Blood Of My Blood series, not for the waves of the sea, but for the waves of change happening to characters’ lives and how the actions of one soul can cause ripples that become far reaching and impact many more around them.
It’s a DK weight shawl with slightly different shaping than a normal triangular design, the collar edge to the shawl rolls beautifully on its own to produce the look of waves around the neck. I have used a slightly heavy DK that holds the stitch pattern well and with no blocking required it keeps the heaviness and wave texture.
There are no charts, the pattern is written row by row, and is suitable for any knitting ability.
