A great retro, hippie-ish poncho designed to keep you warm on those cool autumn or early spring days. This poncho is knit from the top of the turtleneck down, in the round, all in one piece.

This is a relatively quick knit, a weeks worth of evenings and a weekend or two. A great project for someone just learning to knit. The simple shape is appropriate for both men and women of all ages.

Your completed project will require between 500 and 900+ yards of yarn depending upon the length you choose. The poncho pictured used approx. 600 yards of a heavy worsted weight 100% wool yarn. You will be working on #10 1/2 and #13 US, double pointed and circular needles. The only other supplies needed are 4 stitch markers - 3 of one color and one of another.

This is not a “fitted” garment so achieving a specific gauge is not important. Using the needles and weight yarn specified, the garment will knit up to the measurements indicated.

This poncho is easily adaptable to novelty yarn and would look great in a thick/thin cotton for the summer months.
