Tux is the Mascot of Linux (Torvalds linUX). See more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tux

The blanket reminds me of these wise words said by Linus Torvalds, founder of Linux:

Some people have told me they don’t think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen an angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100 mph. They’d be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

The pattern was based on this vector Grafic of Tux by Larry Ewing With modifications.

As the design is quite large, you should have some experience in Double Knitting before you start working on this project. I suggest you practice Double Knitting on one of my free, smaller DK Potholders first.

The Baby Blanket is reversible, on the back side you see Tux from behind.
