At the end of the winter I start dreaming about summer tops. I close my eyes and see cushions of dense thyme, sending out a strong fragrance. The small twigs are set with lots of tiny flowers, attracting bees and butterflies! I want to make a top that gives me that feeling of going out in the garden admiring the thyme and enjoying the summer. I want my top to be fast and fun to make as well as flattering

My Twigs of Thyme is the result of my dreams and imagination:

A top casual enough to be worn every day, pretty enough to be worn any night.
A slightly scalloped lace-edging for the deep and flattering V-neck, a centered lace-motif for the back as well as below the V-neck and the lower front.

The pattern has been tested by the following testers: lalybags, Ros61, Jolynda, MimmyKnits. They all made beautiful tops - thank you so much for participating in the test! Lalybags even helped me out with the proof-reading:))

Construction The top is worked seamlessly and top down, starting from a provisional cast-on for back worked flat to armpits. each front is worked from the provisional cast-on to armpits, where worked is assembled and continued in the round. There are faux seams in the sides for easy weaving in the ends. Sts are picked up around the armholes for working a narrow ribbed edge. The top could also be made from a traditional cast-on

Sizes There are 10 sizes to choose from. Finshed bust: 30.5/32/34/36/38/40/42/44/46.5/49”. The top is worked top down meaning that it could be worked to preffered length.

Wool I used a colorful cotton: Soft Cotton from Järbo. This wool is an Aran/10ply weight in balls of 50gr/1.76oz and 80m/87yards. You need 6/6/7/7/7/8/8/9/9/10 balls to work the top using this specific wool. There are many similar qualitis at the market.

Notions: waste yarn and crochet hook for the provisional cast-on, straight needles 4.5mm/US7 for the upper part, circular needle at least 4.5mm/US7 for the lower body, small circular needle 3.5mm/US4 for the edging of the armholes. 4 markers. Seperate holders. A row counter.

Gauge 19sts/25rows in st st = 10x10cm/4x4”
