I recently freehanded myself a set of lekku for a Hera Syndulla cosplay since I hadn’t seen any crochet patterns for lekku, and I decided to turn my notes into a pattern in case any other crocheters would find a pattern helpful.

This pattern is written in US terms and was designed for intermediate crocheters. That is largely because I have not provided instructions for different sizes of the hat base that the rest of the pieces are sewn onto. I provide instructions for what I did but leave it up to you to customize it to your own head. Everything else is one size and does not need to be adjusted at all!

This pattern is written for five pieces which are then sewn together at the end. You will also need stuffing to fill the pieces.

Stitches used: single crochet, knit/waistcoat stitch

Yarn: Sport weight, preferably cotton for structure/breathability
You will need roughly 800-900yd. I added surface crochet decoration to mine (which is not included in this pattern because I just eyeballed it), which used another roughly 80-100yd of a contrast color for my design, though depending on what character you are trying to emulate, your yardage will vary.

Hook: 3.5mm (US E)
