I would like to present to you: a two-tailed stocking cap inspired by the Twi’leks of the Star Wars universe!

Version 2, updated December 2018:
New optimized to be more universally-applicable! Also tested more rigorously! This version works with SimplySoft (at the very least) and doesn’t include a cable pattern. It should be easier to adapt to your own needs as well, but feel free to contact me with questions about modifications.

I developed this pattern (my first original work!) to be the centerpiece of my Hera Syndulla cosplay for GeekGirlCon 2016. It got a fair bit of attention so I thought I’d post it here. There are several crochet patterns for twi’lek hats available but I was unable to find one for knitting, so I hope someone finds this pattern useful.

You’ll need somewhere around 350-400 yards of aran or worsted weight yarn for the version I made, less if you don’t want a brim. It comes out to ~50 yards off-white for the brim, and ~340 yards of green for the main body of the hat.

Cabling is optional but sure does look nice.

As I mentioned, this is my first original pattern so feel free to message me with (gentle and constructive) comments, or if you want to adapt it for your own favorite twi’lek!
