A collaboration with Moeke yarns, designed and created to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the EYLUL shop on 29 April 2019. Happy anniversary Yuri!

Colourwork is charted only.

Twillingate is a bottom up, easy and breezy tank top for wool lovers on warm and sunny days. The textured colourwork is strong but delicate. The stockinette body is very airy and loose, and gathered at the bust as a feminine highlight. A wool top for warm weather…but just because it’s a tank top, it doesn’t mean that you can’t wear it under and over other things on cold days too!

Sizes

(S, M, L) (XL, 2XL) with finished bust circumferences:
(85, 95, 105) (115, 130)cm /
(33.5, 37.5, 41.25) (45.25, 51.25)”.

Sample shown is size M on an 89cm / 35” bust, corresponding to 6cm / 2.5” positive ease. Intended to be worn with 0cm to 10cm / 0” to 4” positive ease at bust. A schematic and list of other measurements is also provided.

Yarn

Moeke Yarns Elena Single (100% traditional Romanian wool), approximately 330 metres / 100 grams, in main colour MC (Natural), and contrast colour CC (Grey). You will need approximately (240, 265, 300) (335, 385) grams of MC and (25, 30, 35) (40, 45) grams of CC.

Gauge

Stockinette (in the round): 22 sts and 34 rounds to 10cm / 4” with size A needles after blocking (or needle size required to match gauge).

Textured colourwork (flat/straps): 32 sts and 26 rows to 10cm / 4” with size B needles after blocking (or needle size required to match gauge).

Textured colourwork (in-the-round/bust): 32 sts and 30 rounds to 10cm / 4” with size C needles after blocking (or needle size required to match gauge).

Needles & Notions

Gauge was achieved with the following needle sizes. Note that you may or may not need a different needle size for the textured colourwork straps (worked flat) from what you used for the textured colourwork bust (worked in the round). You must swatch and always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Size A: 3.25mm (US 3) circular needles for stockinette body

Size B: 3.5mm (US 4) circular needles for i-cord edgings, and either circular or straight needles for textured colourwork straps worked flat

Size C: 3.75mm (US 5) circular needles for textured colourwork bust band worked in the round.

crochet hook for fastening straps, stitch markers, removable markers, tapestry needle, stitch holders or scrap yarn
