This is my take on a classic hat construction. The hat makes use of both colours in the brioche pattern to really emphasize the twirl. This pattern makes the most out of a few stitches; it’s an ideal pattern for a first venture into brioche, or for adapting the pattern to your own needs.

Brioche knit and purl, brioche increasing and decreasing, working in the round.

This hat is worked from the bottom-up in the round. The pattern is available in 8 sizes (preemie to large adult) and can be customised for fit from beanie to slouchy. In order for the hat to fit snuggly, there is negative ease built into the pattern. This means that the finished size is smaller than the size of head it will fit. Please take this into account when choosing which size to knit.

Any DK weight yarn should work well with this pattern. Choose two strongly contrasting colours for the best effect.

The straight forward nature of this pattern means you can adapt it to any weight yarn you would like. I give advice on how to do this in the pattern itself.
