I am delighted to share with you my first ever design: Twist Quest!

I wanted something versatile, perfect for wrapping around your shoulders on a summers evening, or keeping you warm in winter. I also wanted to to create a subtle but beautiful fade to add a bit of depth. A simple cable running through the middle and a little eyelet design create a little interest.

This is the one for you if you love:

Cables
Simple garter stitch
Eyelets

This isn’t the one for you if you don’t like:

Weaving in ends. Unfortunately, due to the construction, there’s a fair bit of weaving in during the colour fades, but I promise you it’s worth it!

Notions:

4.5mm circular needle
Darning needle for weaving in ends
Cable needle
Stitch markers
Scissors

Yarn:

4ply/fingering yarn in 3 colours for a fade.

Colour A: 1 skein
Colour B: 1 skein
Colour C: 1 skein

Honey Twist Quest version used:
Colour A: Limpet
Colour B: Antique Map
Colour C: Drunk Bees

This version was knitted using Tweedore by Skein Queen.

Stormy Twist Quest was my first prototype of the shawl. I’ve since made slight changes, but for the most part it remains the same. I used:
Colour A: Tern
Colour B: Black Sea
Colour C: Fate

This version was knitted using madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light.

If you don’t fancy doing a 3-colour fade, you will only need 2 skeins to do one colour!
