The scarf pattern, knit lengthwise, takes advantage of the long and gradual colour changes of Scarfie, although you can use any bulky yarn. The hat, knit in the round, uses enough of the yarn that the ribbing and top of the hat should match.

You can easily adjust the length and width of the scarf by increasing or decreasing, in even numbers, the number of stitches and rows.

I used two skeins of Scarfie but had enough left to make a pair of mitts to match. If you only have one skein, the scarf could be made shorter and/or narrower. I used about 40m or 57 yards of the second skein.
