I am retiring from knit design due to progressive arthritis. Although I will no longer provide pattern support to my patterns that are now free, my patterns are edited and most have been test knit.

The motif edge is inspired by a favorite Native tapestry from Two Grey Hills, NM. This luxury shawl is worked in two great yarns from the Fibre. Co.

Worked modularly to the rectangular motif section on the long edge opposite the picot CO. This is a great project for a luxury lace/light fingering weight yarn held double or a sport weight yarn held single.

Yardage for light fingering weight HELD DOUBLE is approximately 1580 yds/1445 m (shown in THE FIBRE CO Meadow, color Aster. Three skeins of this yarn are required. The gauge for this shawl is 19 sts and 38 rows in 4”/10 cm in Garter Stitch with yarn held double, before blocking. The motif edge is 41 3/4”/106 cm and the longest edge is 49 1/2”/126 cm.

Yardage for sport weight yarn as shown in THE FIBRE CO Road to China Light model is approximately 695 yds/636 m. The color is Carnelian and 5 skeins are required. The gauge for this shawl is 22 sts and 44 rows in 4”/10 cm in Garter Stitch, before blocking. The motif edge is 37”/94 cm and the longest edge is 45”/114 cm.
