The name Tytär means Daughter in Finnish. I designed this dress for my young daughter, making it a particularly personal design, created with love and a touch of Nordic fairytale magic.

The pattern was originally published in the 2025 winter issue of Novita Magazine. Now, I’m presenting a more detailed version for a wider audience.

Romantic, timeless, and a little bit fairytale-like, Tytär is a knitted dress designed to make everyday moments feel special. And why not knit one for Christmas as a gift for someone special — or as a special gift for yourself?

Worked in a rich lingonberry red with delicate off-white stranded colorwork, this dress combines traditional Nordic knitting influences with a distinctly feminine silhouette. The charming bird motifs on the sleeves and around the neckline add a touch of folklore, while the softly gathered waist creates a beautiful, flowing shape.

Perfect for the festive season, winter celebrations, or simply for anyone who loves a dress with character, Tytär is a statement piece that feels both nostalgic and wonderfully individual.
