One time, one day…when I was randomly surfing the internet, I saw a drawing of a pin-up girl wearing a super short jacket that had that barely there look of “I’m wearing a jacket put what’s the point?”. I thought it was ridiculously cute and decided I wanted to make a knitted version. At another time, on another day, I ran across the yarn I used to knit it…which unexpectedly self-striped much to my delight. Also, because I am a lazy person…or as I like to say, efficient, I tried a different technique for completing the sleeves. I was giddy over the result!

The über-short pin-up jacket looks equally cute over a strapless dress, a tank top and jeans or even lingerie. This project knits up really fast (because there isn’t much to it), and it is easily customizable. Here are some suggestions for how you might “non-conform” to my pattern.
• Obviously, yarn substitutions are always an option. Just check to make sure it knits to gauge. I think the sky is the limit as far as substitutions go. Fuzzy yarns will create a completely different garment from a silky or solid colored yarn, etc. As I said above, my yarn created an unexpected, but most welcome effect!
• The length of the body and sleeves are infinitely adjustable, but be sure to get enough yarn if you lengthen the garment. Just add rows to the sleeves and/or body after the body and sleeves are separated.
• Also, I continued to work increases into the sleeves and body after they were divided to achieve a slightly “belled” effect. You can work the sleeves and body straight if you wish, or work the increases more frequently for a loser, more “belled” effect.

The second version pictured was knitted size small, in Caron Simply Soft…Forest Floor. It took less than one skein.
