A Round Owl Baby Blanket

This soft and sweet baby blanket is knit in four stages. The owl is knit first, with his body done in garter stitch and his wings in moss stitch. Once the body of the owl is finished, with the last stitches still attached to the needle, the stitches all the way around the body will be picked up and knit, creating a circle. These rounds, alternating between stockinet stitch and purl, are then knit in the round with yarn-overs to create a spiral effect. The blanket is then finished off with a cute ruffle border. Eyes, ears and a cute beak are added to complete this adorable owl.

As the blanket doubles in size, so do the amount of stitches on the needle. The pattern was written and tested using one 60” circular needle, however it is also possible to knit it using several shorter circular needles. When choosing to do so the only difference is that the stitches need to be divided over the needles.

The chart included is from the ruffle, the rest of the pattern is written out.

A special thanks to my testers who have all knit beautiful and adorable blankets. There’s a bunch of little ones blessed to have these knitters loving them:-)
