Here is a pattern for babies that is just a bit different. All newborns need a hand knit blankie. This one is simply made with a knit/purl texture and a ribbed border.

The blanket is complemented with a matching hat and cushion. The hat is a traditional shape but with the addition of knitted ears and a bit of embroidery, it becomes a bear. The same design, plus knitted ears, is embroidered on the corner of the cushion.
