This design is a hybrid between a wide triangular shawl and a crescent shape, worked in two-colour stripes of varying depths, using a number of different lace patterns and areas of garter stitch and stocking stitch for added texture. Increases are worked at both side edges and either side of a central spine stitch. Two versions are offered, in both 4-ply and lace weights. The laceweight includes an extra stripe. (To make a smaller laceweight version, you could follow the instructions for the 4-ply shawl while using 3.25mm needles with a laceweight yarn.)

100g/450m of each colour is required for the 4-ply version, which measures 230cm (90 inches) across the wingspan of the upper edge, and 92cm (36 inches) deep at centre back.

100g/800m of each colour is needed for the laceweight version, which measures 290cm (114 inches) across the upper edge and 107cm (42 inches) deep.

The edging has optional beading - approximately 500 beads are required for the 4-ply version and 750 for the laceweight.

My samples started and finished with the darker colour yarn but you can of course vary this as preferred.

The design is suitable for intermediate to advanced knitters with a considerable level of experience. The lace pattern requires concentration as each section is different, and there is a very large number of stitches on the needle at the end.
