This pattern features a beautiful yet easy lace of little chain links—the same stitch used in the Unchained Melody cowl and neck warmer. While the stitch is familiar, the construction and shawl shape are entirely different, giving the design a fresh feel.

The shawl was designed for one 100 g hank of hand-painted sock yarn (approximately 400 m), held double with fine lace-weight mohair, ideally around 400 m of each.

I adore mohair and am always amazed by how much a touch of fluff can transform the final result. Have fun choosing the perfect fluff! Use it to soften a very variegated yarn (admit it—we’re all drawn to those ), highlight a particular colour within a variegated skein, or pair it with a solid wool to add an extra layer of luxury.

The shawl has an asymmetrical triangular construction, beginning at one tip. After the setup rows, increases are worked on every right-side row, forming the foundation for each new panel. The size is easily adjustable—if you have enough yarn and would like a larger shawl, simply keep knitting until you reach your desired dimensions.

Once a few panels are established, the pattern settles into a relaxed and intuitive rhythm. As several of my lovely testers noted, it’s easy to knit on the go—perfect for car knitting, with no constant need to check the instructions.
