Summer wedding season is here and I wanted something pretty to cover my shoulders but couldn’t face another shawl. When I held this shocking pink yarn next to a particularly purple ribbon, I HAD to use both. Once it was decided to use the ribbon as a feature, the designing part was easy!
Undone is a ribboned capelet featuring a leaf motif. The Leaf and Ribbon edging is worked first to make a collar. Large 1-row buttonholes form slits through which to thread the ribbon. The Leaf Lace body of the capelet is picked up on the WS from the edge of the collar. Finally, the capelet is finished with a picot hem. When worn, the collar folds down to make a leafy border.

Buttonholes
The steps to make a buttonhole in the pattern are based on those given in Barbara Walker’s Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns for a self-reinforcing one-row buttonhole.
