My Undulate Shawl is a knit triangle shawl design inspired by the undulating sea of colorful tree foliage that is the Blue Ridge Mountains amidst peak fall, the urge to “gift knit,” and the satisfaction of seeing a colorway shine in multiple textures. I aimed to infuse all of the seasonal sensory inspiration that surrounds us into this design in tandem with the opportunity to let a colorway shine in both garter and stockinette. I envision this shawl being worn either front and center in a bandanna style, wrapped around your shoulders in the cooler evenings, gracefully flung over one shoulder, or even warming your crown as a headwrap.

MATERIALS

YARN

Purple-ish Sample:
3 skeins LolaBeanYarn Co Pinto Bean (100% sw merino; 250 yds per 115 g skein)

or 774-802 yards of any DK weight yarn

Neutral-ish Sample:
4 skeins Madelinetosh Tosh DK (100% sw merino; 225 yds per 100 g skein)

(I used 850 yards in the Madelinetosh ‘GG Loves Silver Linings’ colorway to make a slightly larger version in this second shawl sample. I continued the repeat as listed in the pattern notes page to make the larger modification.)

GAUGE

18 sts & 24 rows/4”(10cm) in stockinette, worked flat

NEEDLES

US 7 (4.50 mm) 40-47” circular needles.
