Unfold is a little bit of knitting magic.
Inspired by the rich, subtle look of English tweed, this cowl combines the softly shifting colors of Schoppel Zauberball Starke 6 with two strands of Silky Cat mohair held together in contrasting colors. The result is a beautifully nuanced tweed-like fabric with unexpected depth and dimension.

But the real magic happens in the construction. The fabric naturally folds into dramatic, accordion-like pleats that frame the face beautifully when worn as a cowl. When you’re ready for a change, simply pull the cowl down and unfold it to transform it into a graceful shoulder warmer.

Architectural in appearance but wonderfully simple to knit, Unfold requires only three basic techniques: knit, yarn over, and knit two stitches together. It’s an ideal project for a newer knitter looking for something with plenty of visual impact—or for an experienced knitter wanting an uncomplicated project for travel, relaxing, or clearing the palate between more complex adventures.

Simple stitches. Unexpected structure. Two ways to wear it.
