Description
This adorable little guy is the perfect size to drape around your neck. The small size means he knits up quick. The optional button makes him secure despite any activity. Wear him, name him, love him.

Techniques Used
Provisional Cast On, Knitting Flat and In the Round, Increases, Decreases, Picking Up Stitches, and Crochet Chains.

Materials
Yarn: Bulky Weight, approximately 199 yds (182 m) total.
Main color (Yarn 1): 150 yds (137 m).
Contrast color (Yarn 2): 49 yds (45 m).
Waste yarn, similar in weight to the main yarn (smooth cotton is best, although anything that won’t snag or felt will do) for the provisional cast on. 10 yds (9 m).

Shown in:
Yarn 1: Cascade 128 Superwash, colorway Ecru, #817. Bulky weight. 100% superwash merino wool, 128 yds (117 m) per skein. 2 skeins used.
Yarn 2: Crystal Palace Yarns Chunky Mochi, colorway 801. Super bulky weight. 80% merino wool, 20% nylon. 49 yds (45 m) per skein. 1 skein used.
Confession: When it came time to knit this sample, I went for color and convenience over reproducibility. I had the Mochi in my stash, so I used it. It’s the wrong weight, but the colors! Sadly, it’s also now discontinued. I recommend subbing in Cascade Yarns Pacific Chunky Color Wave: colorway Punk (405), King Cole Riot Chunky: colorways Rainbow (623), Candy Floss (3347), or Cosmic (1953), or Rico Creative Mélange Chunky: colorway Yellow-Turquoise (067), for the rainbow look. You could also try something like Malabrigo Mecha: colorways Lotus (120) or Arco Iris (866), for a softer look. All of those yarns are the right weight, too. :)

Needles: U.S. size 15 (10.0 mm) any length circular needles. 1 set of U.S. size 15 (10.0 mm) double pointed needles. 1 set of U.S. size 11 (8.0 mm) double pointed needles.

Gauge: 12 stitches and 16 rounds = 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) in stockinette stitch on the larger needles, unblocked. Remember to knit your gauge swatch in the round!

Notions: U.S. size M (9.0 mm) crochet hook, one stitch marker (large enough to fit on needles), 4 locking stitch markers (you must be able to unlock them as well!): 2 in color X and 2 in color Y, for marking the positions of the feet and ears (2 shades of waste yarn work just as well), stitch holder or waste yarn, tapestry needle, two novelty buttons for eyes, one 5/8” button (optional), sewing needle, thread.

Finished Measurements: 35” (89 cm) long (from nose to rear hoof) and 6” (15 cm) wide (at widest point).
