Universal Tailored Sock
The beauty of this simple pattern is that once you have determined your gauge, this universal sock pattern allows you to make your socks from any weight of yarn and any needle size you feel works best for the person/project you have in mind.
In general yarn for socks is best with an element of nylon for hard wear, however I have used wool, acrylic, bamboo and a mix of these with great success.
I haven’t given a specific needle size in the pattern - in general I would suggest using a needle smaller than that indicated on the ball band - you need a firm fabric especially underfoot.
Your yardage will very much depend on the yarn you are using. For reference I find a pair of socks with a 10”/25cm foot length generally takes 375m/400yds of 4-ply/fingering weight yarn.
