This crochet pattern will guide you on how to make this unusual granny square tote bag, a fun and useful project for bag and/or granny square lovers!

This project is perfect for anyone who loves granny squares but wants to add a little twist. I’ve tweaked a few steps from the classic construction, so you’ll end up with something familiar yet refreshingly different.
Plus, it features a simple join-as-you-go technique that makes connecting each square quick and satisfying.

MATERIALS:

• Worsted yarn in 4 different shades: I’ve used HOBBII FRIENDS COTTON 8/8 For the main Colour (MC – colorway 05 Beige): less than 4 full balls. I used it for the straps and to add 2 rows in each granny square. That’s about 175 g / 262 m / 286 yd.

Contrast Colours (C1 colorway 27 (Gold Dust), C2 colorway 16 (Whiskey), C3 colorway 13 (Warm Shades)): a little less than 2 balls each. That’s about 90 g / 135 m / 147 yd.

Each ball is 50 g / 1.76 oz / 75 m / 82 yd.
