These socks are knit cuff-down but they can be easily adapted to be knit toe-up. Just make sure that you place the cable panel central across the instep and leg of your sock. If you want to have the arrows pointing in the same direction, you will also have to switch the cable instructions.
The following pattern is written for the use of DPNs but can easily be adapted for magic loop, two-at-a-time or short circulars. Hints for the necessary adaptations are given where needed.

Materials:

  • one 100g skein of a fingering weight sock yarn
  • DPNs in one size smaller then the size needed to obtain gauge
  • DPNs in size needed to obtain gauge
  • cable needle
  • stich markers if desired
  • darning needle

Gauge:
As the pattern does not span the whole sock, getting gauge is not as important. You can work the pattern in any gauge as long as you have at least 26 stitches on the instep/front part of the leg, i.e. a total CO number of 52 stitches.
