The Ural Zip Jacket is worked from the top down, allowing you to try it on as you go and adjust the length if desired. Construction begins with the back, worked flat while shaping the shoulders with short rows for a natural fit. Stitches are then picked up for each shoulder, and the fronts are worked separately back and forth,
with shaping created through increases. At the underarm, the fronts and back are joined, and the body is continued flat to the hem, where it is finished with ribbing. Sleeves are created by picking up stitches around the armholes and are worked in the round down to the cuffs. You can use double-pointed needles, the Magic Loop technique, or your preferred method. The collar is worked last from stitches picked up along the neckline, creating a structured, high neck. An inner facing is added along the zipper opening for a neat finish on the inside. The zipper is sewn in after blocking.
