This is a pattern for a dog snood. Snoods look similar to human cowls, but function closer to a human snood. Use them for warmth, keeping ears out of food/water, staying clean during play, and show coat maintenance.

This snood is made from a fingering weight wool. It is thin and suitable for all weather. The neutral colors and fun stripes are perfect for daily wear and fancy occasions, alike. The ribbing is delicate and wont dig into your dog, but the stretch of the wool helps keep it from being shaken off. My dog, especially, loves this pattern!

I used much less than one ball of each color. The entire snood was knitted on size 3 16” circular needles and I used one size 5 double pointed needle for the bind off. You’ll want to have a yarn needle for weaving in ends.

Stretchy bind off instructions are included in the pattern, but it is expected that you already know bind off basics. Knitting in the round is also a required skill. I give tips within the pattern for reducing jogs during color changes. This is a written pattern.

ERRATA: in the pattern, where it mentions slipping stitches knitwise, slip them PURLWISE instead!
