Urban Bonnet
This unique and funky hat is richly textured, comes to a point on top and features a front edge or brim that can be folded back or worn forward for two separate looks.
The name of the hat is an homage to Seinfeld’s “urban sombrero” and being a native New Yorker living in Philadelphia, I’m a true city gal at heart.
The back of the hat will need to be sewn up with a tapestry needle in the final step. The bottom of the hat is shaped at the neck to ensure a perfect fit.
You will need approximately 215 yards of worsted weight yarn to make this hat. One entire skein of Berroco Vintage in the color Mushroom was used to make the hat in the photos.
LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY:
Intermediate to Advanced
STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES YOU NEED TO KNOW:
You need to know how to knit (k) and purl (p) stitches, knit two stitches together (k2tog) and sew pieces of fabric together with a tapestry needle.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
The finished hat will fit head sizes from 21” to 24”.
