Urchin Purse
Urchin Purse is a playful, textured bag. A project perfect for scrap yarn!
SIZES: 1 (2)
SUGGESTED NEEDLES: 7 mm (80 or 100 cm) circular needles
DIMENSIONS: total height: 35 (60) cm, width: 28 (35) cm and depth: 10 (12) cm. Size 1 is a baguette bag that fits well over the shoulder and size 2 is a more spacious bag that fits over the shoulder like a tote bag, or cross body like a shopper bag.
GAUGE (zigzag stockinette): 12 sts x 16 rows = 10 x 10 cm
MATERIAL SUGGESTION:
300 (500) g of Snow from DROPS (super bulky)
Held together with:
100 (200) g of baby merino from DROPS (sport)
and:
50 (125) g of Lurex from Lammy (DK)
and:
50 (100) g of Alpaca Silk from Rauma (lace)
You can easily make use of scrap yarn with this project. In the photos I’ve used the same yarn for the super bulky weight, but the three additional strands I’ve varied between different scraps in the same color shade. In some parts of the work I used more than three strands in addition to the super bulky yarn, for example when using silk mohair, which is usually very thin. I recommend trying to keep the thickness even throughout.
