The Vagarious Hat features playful stripes and a vertical patch created by working slipped stitches. The patch has a tighter gauge, which slightly affects the shape of the hat. Topped with a pom-pom, the hat slouches just the right amount. It is knitted in the round from the bottom up with luxurious 100% yak yarn.

Finished Size 20” circumference at brim and 9¾“ tall.

Yarn Bijou Basin Ranch 100% Yak Sport (100% Tibetan yak; 328 yd / 3½ oz): navy (A), moss green (B), and natural cream (C), 1 skein each.

Needles Size 2 (2.75 mm): 16” circular (cir). Size 3 (3.25 mm): 16” cir and set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Markers (m); cable needle (cn); tapestry needle.

Gauge 22 sts and 32 rnds = 4” in St st on larger needle; 14 sts of Vertical Stripe patt = 1¾ “ wide on larger needle.

Notes

  • This hat is worked in the round from bottom up.
  • Slip stitches purlwise with yarn in back except where indicated otherwise.
  • Do not break yarn at color changes unless specified. Carry unused color up side of work until it is needed again. Bring new color under color just used.
