The perfect shawl to wrap around your shoulders.

Inspired by Shetland lace the shawl features the ‘Traditional Scalloped Lace’ motif. Designed as the perfect introduction to charted lace, this shawl is knitted sideways with the border worked as you knit the body. Worked using a percentage system, the shawl works across all yarn weights and a variety of yardages.

The lace is provided as written instructions and fully charted. The soothing garter stitch provides a welcome break from the lace sections. This is a great first lace project. The pattern comes with a separate document that gives you an overview of how to read lace charts for knitting.

Size

This is determined by yarn choice, gauge and yardage. This pattern is flexible and can be adapted to suit your yarn choice.

Materials

This shawl can be worked in any weight, with almost any yardage. Ideally you should have a minimum of 200m / 220 yds.

Samples have been knitted in:

Brigantia Double Knit (100 g / 3.53 oz, 201 m / 220 yds, 100% wool), 1 skein

Ginger’s Hand Dyed Humming DK (100g / 3.53 oz, 249m / 273yds, 55% Alpaca, 25% Merino, 20% Nylon), 1 skein

4.5mm / US 7 for DK yarn, or needles suitable for the yarn you have chosen.

Usually one or two sizes larger than the needle recommended on the ball band.

This pattern has been test knitted in various weights of yarn (fingering, sport, DK, worsted and aran). Thank you to all my testers for their time.

This pattern has been professionally tech edited by Joeli Caparco.
