Valencia is a semicircular (or 5/8th of a circle) lace shawl worked from the center back of the neck down to the border.

Level of skills: from intermediate to advanced.
The pattern includes charts and detailed chart notes; no row by row written instructions included.

Shape: half-circle (DESIGN A) or 5/8th of a circle (DESIGN B) are available.

Yarn: The sample shown (DESIGN A) has been worked with Limbažu Tīne Yarn 7/1 (100% wool; 700 m (766 yds)/100 g). The sample required 805 m (880 yds) / 115 g of yarn.
It is strongly recommended to use either natural fiber yarn (linen, cotton, wool, and silk) or yarn with a minimum synthetic content; approx. 500–800 m (547–875 yds) per 100 g.

Finished measurements: 172 cm (68 inches) wingspan and 86 cm (34 inches) deep, relaxed after blocking.
DESIGN B will require more yarn than the semicircular shawl.

Tools & Notions:
Size 3.25 mm (US 3) circular needles;
Size 2.0 mm crochet hook for binding off (as also for provisional cast-on);
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn.
Gauge is not important for this project. Finished size and yarn consumption will depend on yarn choice, needle size and your individual manner of knitting.

Note: In case you’d like to increase your shawl size (not shape), you will only need to work some extra rows of Chart 5.
