This baby hat pattern allows you to make a great baby Valentine’s Day gift a quick and easy wardrobe staple. The neat and colourful stitches, whilst easy to master, create a soft and warm piece which you can treasure for years to come. I have used Aran weight wool as it is acrylic and allergen free, the wool is easy to work with and is washable too making your hats durable and practical.

The hats pictured are the newborn size in red and the 3 - 6 months size in pink. The hat pattern gives instructions for three sizes; newborn, 3 – 6 months, and 6 – 12 months meaning that you can create matching hats as baby grows.

The crochet heart patch is quick and easy to master. This piece is a great project for using up wool, perfect for finishing up wool left over from a blanket or item of clothing.

What you will need:

• 6.5mm crochet hook
• large blunt needle for weaving in the ends
• Worsted weight wool – approximately 25g – 100g

dc - double crochet
htc - half treble crochet
