I absolutely love this skirt.
Wearing a handknitted skirt is like wearing a sweater on your lower half. It is cozy and warm and drapes beautifully.

Using a felting type yarn will help your skirt maintain its shape even when you sit for long knitting sessions.

Rowan’s Felted Tweed is an excellent yarn for this project with a lovely range of colours.
The gingham pattern is rather addictive and keeps you interested while you knit this skirt to your desired length.

Knit in the round from the lower rib to the waistband. The waistband is folded over and sewn down to receive an elastic creating a slightly gathered waist. Some sewing skills may be required to join the elastic ends in an overlapping seam.
