This project start as a “let’s see if I can make it!” sort of thing, but ended with a huge, really cool knit that was fun to work up. The swirled snake is a reference to Vampire Weekend’s newest album, Father of the Bride, specifically the song “Harmony Hall.”

Due to popular demand, I’ve made it into a pattern. It is worked straight, with the chart going from right to left on knit rows and left to right on purl rows. It measures approximately 21x25 inches (roughly 53x63 cm) if done in the yarn I’ve chosen here. Any worsted weight yarn will do, but the pattern may easily be adapted in size by scaling up/down yarn – for example, using a sport weight with appropriate needles will make the design smaller, and a bulky weight yarn will make it larger.

This pattern is not endorsed by Vampire Weekend. It’s purely a labor of love!

Enjoy!
