Vanilla Ruana PLUS
This Vanilla Ruana is like wearing a blanket! It’s loose & flows freely. Sizing is completely customizable!!
All one piece – NO SEWING together! A gauge swatch is optional, since it’s knit to a general dimension (Shoulder to knees & elbow to elbow). The pattern provides cast on stitch counts for all 4 Flexee Loom gauges. Beyond casting on, there isn’t any real counting involved. YOU decide how long you want it to be!
Don’t have a Flexee Loom - No worries! Basic instructions for a traditional loom is also included.
The Vanilla Ruana is worked from the bottom back, up to the shoulders & down both front panels. You decide if you want to work the front panels one at a time or concurrently.
Options! For me, ‘Vanilla’ means basic, so if you want to change the stitch pattern, colour scheme or length – go for it!! Just stick to the neck/collar instructions & approximate dimensions - you’ll be all set!
This is a great project for TV knitting or listening to your favourite podcast.
Needed: Beginner level
Measuring tape, scissors, crochet hook (5mm or less), loom of choice, loom hook, yarn to match loom selection.
Yarn used for the Vanilla Ruana (not including edge) & approx. amount: 215yrds x 8 skeins = 1720 yrds/1576m or 32oz/904g
Note: I had 85g/3oz left over from a Reg. (orange) gauge loom.
Depending on YOUR loom choice & the measurements YOU choose - YOUR yarn requirements will be different.
Also, the 12 peg cabled edge is completely optional & does require some sewing.
Written instructions are supported by 3 YouTube videos;
1) The public video showing the main/Vanilla Ruana construction,
2) A PRIVATE video showing how to create an I-cord, a Rope Cable & the updated Joining techniques &
3) A PRIVATE video showing how to create the Rope Cable AROUND the corners!
